Intelligent Holiday Dressing

I’ve added a few dressy items to my wardrobe as of late… the holiday season is a good time to shop for dressier clothes, particularly if you come across something you love. When you wait for an occasion or specific event and then look for a beautiful dress, it seems you never find what you are looking for. Am I right?! Here are some beautiful dresses that caught my eye this season. Time to indulge!

I absolutely love the wool military cropped jacket from Me + Em.

I’m thinking of it as a year round piece. Here it is paired with a Ralph Lauren fitted wool dress, but I also styled it with my summer Ralph Lauren Linen dresses and some Jenny Kane mules and it’s equally charming. I had been on the hunt for a sweater/ jacket to wear over dresses, and it definitely needs to be cropped so you can still see the waistline of the dress. Since it is an investment, I wanted to make sure it also worked with a pencil skirt and pants, which it does. I’m looking for to wearing this piece for years to come.

Other Dress Ideas

In terms of the dresses, I think it is nice to have some longer and shorter pieces for different occassions. I didn’t have many shorter dresses in my wardrobe, and this Silk Flare Dress from Me and Em is a classic. I really love clothing made with natural materials, and this all silk dress feels so nice on your skin.

Dressy Shoes

The Le Monde Beryl Isa pumps are a gorgeous addition to this holiday line up. The sparkle on the toe is extra, which you need during the holidays, but the block heel makes it practical for walking and standing for longer periods, often required at holiday gatherings. I hope they restock my size!
