Curated Gifts
Curated Gifts: A few of my favourite things and how to enjoy them!
- Decor Walther (*Images linked) I first saw this brand at the Milanese department store, Rinascente, during Milan Design Week 2024. I am obsessed. Can you just picture the soap dish on a marble vanity with either an exquisite block of soap, or a beautiful bottle of liquid hand soap? It’s luxe.
- Desmond and Dempsey pyjamas: A nice pair of pyjamas is always a good idea. And even better when someone else buys them for you.
- Maison Flaneur candlestick: I first saw these appear on the Maison Flaneur website earlier in fall, and immediately fell for them. They sort of look like Murano, but updated, and are handblown in Egypt. That makes them even more interesting in my book. Apparently glass blowing practically began in Egypt. I imagine a handful of these in different colours in a long, meandering row on a dining table, in a room that has a very muted palette, making these candlesticks POP! They will look like gems!
- & 7. Slamp rechargeable flower light: I have one of these and I want more! They give off such a pretty light and would look so nice in a bunch, or solo, in a powder room instead of a candle or dimmed sconce. They would also make a great “night light” for kids. I like the idea of one hanging out in a pot with real flowers and moss…
- Vaccuvin: I’ve seen these used in the south of France at wine tastings. Not only do they allow you to pour small amounts, but they also prevent air from entering the bottle, keeping the wine fresh for longer. As I have put myself on a “wine allowance” preserving a nice bottle of wine for a longer period of time is very appealing. Plus, it really makes you look like a sommelier…
- Appenzeller Gurt: Everyone in Switzerland has these dog collars and/ or leashes. They are handmade in the Appenzell region (one of the most beautiful in Switzerland if I had to choose) and they are gorgeous in person. A real treasure for any dog owner.

- 1st Dibs Christian Dior brooch: I’ve had this on my list for awhile. I see beautiful brooches all of the time at the Nice Saleya Market and I am determined to choose one for myself. I really think brooches are making a come back and what a way to add personal style to any outfit. They are so elegant and chic and can be used in so many ways: on jackets, at the centre of a collar on a buttoned up shirt, or on a scarf.
- Dyptique Candle Trimmer: I didn’t really know how much I needed one of these until I was in the Dyptique shop in St. Tropez this summer, and I realised it was the tool I was missing. How many times do you have a beautiful candle, but the wick has disappeared. Now you have a beautiful way to maintain and get full use of your candle. I also love candles from Fragonard. (Great pairing)
- Barts earmuffs: For when it’s cold but you don’t want to mess up your coiffed hair with a winter hat.
- Allan K.: I found this brand while looking for slippers on the Manufactum website. The search brought up a beautiful pair of woven leather loafers, perfect for summer. They were too beautiful to not “add to cart.” I decided to look him up and found that Allan K not only has a beautiful story, but a great eye too, and has created other leather goods with the woven technique.
- Gottshein wool slippers: Made in Sud-Tirol, these wool slippers are gorgeous, practical and durable. A luxury staple you can’t go wrong with.
I hope you enjoyed dreaming a little bit with me and maybe found some ideas, too, among my curated gifts. Finding useful gifts that are also elegant can be a challenge these days with all of the marketing coming to your inbox on any given day. I think the best gifts are found often when you aren’t looking for them, but you happen upon something that reminds you of a person. That’s when you know you’ve found a winning present. Good luck!!
