Dining Room Update

In this post I discussed my options for new dining chairs. Well, here they are…

Please excuse my photography skills. I ended up with the Flexform Hera chair in Pelle 2 801 off white leather with satined metal legs. I love them. The scale is perfect for the table and they fill the room a bit better than the Moroso supernatural chairs. And they are very comfortable. Gorgeous to look at, too.

Eventually, I may add two end chairs that are taller. I would probably use the Flexform Feel Good so I could keep with the same materials.

I’ve purchased my Flexform Hera chairs, and many other products, from Milia Shop. They are a Sicilian based, family run company and have excellent customer service. The best way to get in touch with them is to fill out an inquiry through their website.

Another addition to this room is the light fixture, Flos’ Sky Garden, also purchased through Milia Shop.

We had no existing lighting in this room, and in the winter in Switzerland it gets very dark very early. I tried to make do with LED rechargeable lights like these:

But in the end it was still too dark, and we felt like we were eating dinner on a dimly lit stage set. Luckily, the room had already been wired, so my electrician just needed to locate the wire to install the fixture. We also added a dimmer switch, so we can still dim the lights when we feel so inclined.

Finally, I am on the hunt for a “new” antique rug for the dining room. I will be scouring Etsy for hand-knotted antique rugs in a color that compliments my existing rug in the family room.

Some other improvements I’ve made are replacing the side tables in the family room. I chose B&B Italia Mera side tables on either side of the B&B Italia Atoll sofa, and a menu plinth inbetween the two leather swivel chairs. In this space where we needed to add warmth and functionality, marble fills this void and is a material I never tire of.
