Gift Guide for the Design Obsessed
During this season of giving, I thought it might be fun to come up with a gift guide for those obsessed with design. I have a few ideas to share with you.
Mobiles
First up: Volta Mobiles. What a way to add dimension or a pop of color to your space. The gentle breeze blowing from an open window will give it motion, and add to the allure. Definitely add this item to your gift list.
Design Books for the Gift Guide
Design books: I can’t think of a better way to spend a cold, winter’s afternoon than curled under a blanket, next to the fire with a design book in hand. Here are a few good ones. More good design book suggestions can be found by listening to this podcast from Alice Lane.
Speaking of Alice Lane, they have some beautiful items in their shop:
For someone with more neoclassical taste:
Ginori Porcelain
Italian porcelain maker, Ginori, is another fabulous place to look for unique gifts. Not only have they been around since 1735, they have stayed current with their fashion forward collaborations with today’s tastemakers.
Art: Art can be a tricky gift to purchase for someone else, but also fabulous to receive. I do believe it is often art that can finish a room, and is something that many people do not invest in. I am just beginning to pick up a few pieces for my home, but what a difference it can make. Below are pieces from Kayce Hughes, Ron Giusti, and Kimberly Moore.
Original Art
Lamps: Lighting is an easy way to add a lot of personality to your space. Here are some favorites of mine: the first is rechargeable and can be used outside, second is Tom Dixon, and the third, Kartell Bourgie, is made with recycled plastic and has three adjustable height settings!

Beautiful Candles
You can’t go wrong with a room candle in a pretty container:
Beautiful, but also practical, water carafes that can live on your dining table. I love keeping a water carafe on my table so we don’t have to get up during meals for more water. It’s a great way to get your kids to drink more water, too.
