I have super sensitive skin. Water alone causes my skin to dry out, not just on my face, but all over my body. In Switzerland, the water is very hard and that combined with the cold winters make for a challenging skincare routine. I have spent the better part of my life trying to figure out the best way to care for my skin, but frequently moving homes can add to the complexity of this seemingly simple task. Moving means different food, different climates, different water, different stresses, all of which impact your skin. Combine that with aging, and the problem no longer seems quite so simplistic.

There are the obviously healthy routines to incorporate, like a good night’s sleep, proper diet, and plenty of water. And the things we cannot compete with, like genetics. This leaves us with topical solutions, i.e. products. I can be a sucker for the next new product that promises a miracle, despite my better judgement. I am learning not to fall for this so easily! But there are certain products that I cannot live without.

One product line that remains in my routine, and is recommended by my dermatologist is Skinceuticals. I use the C E ferulic acid every morning. I also love there triple lipid moisturizer and their phyto corrective mask, which I often use as spot treatment after using a harsher product to combat hormonal acne. Another fantastic product is their tinted spf. It is thin and light, non- greasy and goes on easily.

Another product I am loving is a new product I discovered here in Switzerland. It is a small company, female run, out of Geneva and is called Swiss Toniq. I’m a huge fan of their Advanced Repair anti-age face serum. It is thick and sticky, and needs about 10 minutes to soak into your skin. When I get up in the morning, I first apply the Skinceuticals C E Ferulic Acid, then the Swiss Toniq Serum. I do other parts of my morning routine, like empty the dishwasher, make school lunches, etc, and then return to my skincare routine to allow the product to be absorbed into my skin. This works well for me.

I use this product morning and night and order it on a subscription basis, which rewards you with a slight decrease in price as well as a free gift each month. I’ve tried a few of their other products as well, like their mud mask and exfoliator. They also have included bath soap, which is very moisturizing.

In between the daily skincare, I find a mask can often address any issues as my skin fluctuates throughout the month. I love Kiehls for their effective and well priced products. Their Rare Earth Deep Pore cleansing mask is a favorite of mine. Sometimes I just use it on problem areas when I’m on the sofa for the evening.

I also have tried many of their eye creams, but I’m yet to find the perfect one.
