Summer Clothing

It has been a particularly hot spring and summer in Zurich, and though I love my shirt dresses, sometimes in my everyday life where I am taking care of household chores and walking the dog, I need something even more practical than my linen shirt dresses. I spent the better part of spring in search of the perfect pair of shorts, and found some close contenders at Cos and Ralph Lauren, but I ended up returning them both as the sizing did not work for me.

In the end, I wound up with two additions to my summer closet: a lululemon skort, which looks equally good with a polo shirt or sweater, and sandals or mules. I bought up a size so the length is a bit longer and the waist looser, which makes it less sporty and a bit more like a casual skirt.

The second item I’ve purchased are a pair of linen culottes from Cos. They are loose fitting and full, which makes them very comfortable in extreme heat. I plan to wear them with a silk tank from Eileen Fisher.

These additions give me the variety I was looking for on the hot days when even a shirt dress won’t do.
