Table Lamps

Table Lamps from top left to right: I/ II/ IIIIV/ V/ VIVII/ VIII/ IX X/ XI/ XII

We are in the midst of a home office update and this involves finding a new table lamp… a seemingly simplistic task, but at once complicated by the view from Teams/ Google Meets, whichever platform you are using, am I right? We can no longer get away with a blurred background, and therefore must contrive a space that looks unified and sophisticated, fresh and intriguing really, but not distracting or gaudy, or pretentious. This is an overwhelming task for sure.

Foundation Furniture

So far, we have the anchoring point, a cast-off sofa bed that has about the ugliest profile I think you could find a piece of furniture having. (We bought it for function and for potential “guests,” the mattress is quite comfortable.) We will try to mask this with a “throw” and “throw pillows,” I have yet to order. For now we are concentrating on the gallery wall, side table and table lamp. I’ve pulled a HAY tray table from the cellar for the side table. These tables are a steal and are universally functional. I highly recommend picking up a few. I’ve used them in various settings.

Art Pieces

This is similar to what we are starting with (slightly different framing and colorways). I am going to wait until I see these pieces in person to add a few more. I always hope to add pieces from my travels, as I find this is the best way I can appreciate art.

In terms of purchasing art, I try to buy original pieces but ones that are still a good value and haven’t hit mainstream. With all of the available places to shop (Etsy, 1stdibs, Chairish) there is no limit in terms of access to art and I think you can find original pieces at every price point. I also love to see what is on offer at Paloma & Co, as she has a great curated shop.
